I have been dying to go to brunch forever now! But, my husband is not much of a breakfast person. If you gave him the choice, he would opt for a hearty/meaty lunchtime meal than a delicate scrumptious brunch.
So, I made the decision to leave him at home and bring my mom out for a nice, Saturday morning brunch on the beach.
I had never been to The Sunset Restaurant (www.thesunsetrestaurant.com), but have walked by it on several beach trips and wanted to check it out. It was well worth the drive down to Malibu.
We were seated immediately at a window seat with an amazing view of the beach, complete with a man building a luxury sandcastle. My mom ordered the French toast, and I ordered my go-to breakfast meal, Eggs Benedict.
The food came fast and was sooo delicious. Mom’s French toast (yes, I stole a bite…or two) was the perfect mix of egg-y and cinnamon-y, not too overcooked (I hate hate hate dry French toast!). My Eggs Benedict was served with a side of potatoes and caramelized onions – by far the best part of the meal. I could have probably eaten just those and been happy.
All in all, an enjoyable meal. They have what looks like a pretty spectacular happy hour, so I plan on coming back in the near future to check that out.
We finished the morning with a nice walk on the beach, checking out the sandcastle-making on our way. I was pretty impressed by the architecture, so I posted a picture below.
