Margaritas are the best.  Seriously.  You can have so much fun with flavors and colors.  You can rim your glasses with salt or sugar.  You can add limes, or lemons, or strawberries, or raspberries.  Or, if its winter, and you want something festive – you can add cranberries!

This is, without a doubt, one of the most delicious drinks that I have ever made.  I actually whipped this amazing cocktail up for a party I went to this holiday season – and it was quite the hit!   (more…)

Cacique Caipirinha

The Caipirinha is Brazil’s national cocktail – and is usually made with sugar, limes, and cachaca (a Brazilian liquor made from sugar cane).  This version is a Cacique Caipirinha, however, and is based on a cocktail that I enjoyed in one of my favorite vacation spots, Costa Rica.  Costa Ricans use a sugar cane liquor that is called Cacique Guaro.  You can also substitute white rum in for the cacique if you don’t have any of this Costa Rican liquor on hand.

Gummy Bear Cookies

I love gummy bears! They include all of the best things candy has to offer.  They are sweet.  They are chewy.  And best of all, they are so darn cute!  I ended up with quite a few bags of mini haribro gummy bears (the best kind!) and wanted to something fun with them.  And then it hit me…bake them into my other favorite treat – sugar cookies!  The result was pure awesomeness.

This was my first year participating in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap.  It was so much fun and I received some super amazing cookies!

It took me a while to figure out what kind of cookies I was going to bake up for this event.  There were lots of things to think about.  I wanted to make a cookie that pretty much anyone could enjoy…who doesn’t enjoy chocolate?  I needed something that would stay intact while shipped across the country…so dainty cookies wouldn’t cut it.  I also wanted something that was a little different from your average holiday cookie – so I gingerbread men or peppermint cookies off the list.   (more…)
