This was my first year participating in the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. It was so much fun and I received some super amazing cookies!
It took me a while to figure out what kind of cookies I was going to bake up for this event. There were lots of things to think about. I wanted to make a cookie that pretty much anyone could enjoy…who doesn’t enjoy chocolate? I needed something that would stay intact while shipped across the country…so dainty cookies wouldn’t cut it. I also wanted something that was a little different from your average holiday cookie – so I gingerbread men or peppermint cookies off the list. (more…)
A quick, easy, healthy dinner is my number 1 priority on late work nights. By the time I get off of work I am hungry, tired, and grumpy! Super grumpy. And all I can think about is dinner, PJ’s and the sitting on the couch.
That’s why this BBQ Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potato is perfect! Just throw the chicken breasts and BBQ sauce in the slow cooker in the morning, throw a few sweet potatoes in the oven as soon as you get home from work, and in 30 minutes and about no work later, dinner is ready!
Rice Krispie treats are the ultimate childhood dessert. There is absolutely nothing better than ooey, gooey, krispie, crunchy hand held treats!
Until now. Because I have found that this grown up version, which appeals to the sophisticated adult taste buds but still hold on to the simplicity of this favorite childhood treat. Browned Butter Vanilla Bean Rice Krisipes are the perfect mix of childhood meets adulthood.
There’s just something about peanut butter that’s comforting. Am I right? And chocolate. That goes without saying. Chocolate heals everything. If we learned anything from Harry Potter, it is that chocolate has healing power. (Yes, it is Harry Potter season, so we currently have a HP Marathon going on in my household…you will see lots of HP references in the near future, my sincerest apologies.)
So what happens when you stick those two together into a delicious dessert?! This Chocolate Kiss Peanut Butter Cookie – that’s what! And these cookie have magical powers. They are that good. (more…)
Chinese take out is one of my favorite things to order on late work days. But, ordering takeout so often gets both expensive and unhealthy. So, I’ve been trying to find quick and easy recipes that I can whip up after work that will quench that craving!
Honey Sesame Chicken is super easy to mix up and is reminiscent of some of my favorite take out dishes.
Hubby and I had the vacation of a lifetime in August. 10 magnificent days in Costa Rica.
We filled the trip with tons of hiking, zip lining, canyoneering and deep sea fishing. And we also ate a ton of amazing costa rican food and drinks. Did you know that Costa Rica has their own liquor made from sugar cane? No? Me either until this trip.
Risotto has always been one of my favorite things to order when we go out to eat. But, I’ve always been a big chicken when it came to trying to make it at home. I’ve heard horror stories from friends who have tried to make it and had it come out crunchy, or mushy, or just eww. So I never tried myself. Until now that is. (more…)
Walking down the candy isle at any supermarket or Target around Halloween season is so overwhelming! Bags and bags of candy everywhere! And the sales! Who can turn down those awesome sales! 10-pound bags of candy for like 20 cents! Well, I haven’t ever found that good of a deal, but some come close! (more…)
So, my favorite thing about Chipotle is their amazing cilantro lime rice. Usually, if I’m going to go there for a meal, I’ll break down and order a giant, rice filled burrito! But even if I’m trying to be “good” and get a burrito bowl or salad – I find it very hard to pass on the rice and end up including that as well. (more…)
Pumpkin recipes for fall never get old! The other day, I bought a bottle of pumpkin seed oil from Trader Joe’s. I had no idea what I was going to do with it…but figured that I couldn’t go wrong with a delicious flavored oil. The bottle recommended it for bread dipping and salad dressing, but I figured there had to be another fun way to use it! (more…)
